I graduated from La Porte High School in La Porte, Indiana, in 2010 with academic honors and membership in the National Honor Society. While attending La Porte High School, I earned six varsity letters. I was a three-year high school letterman in varsity baseball and basketball.
" The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Doctor of Physical Therapy has a new facility, the faculty-to-student ratio is great, and the city of Fort Wayne provides students with a great opportunity to get clinical experience in various settings. "- Evan Jurjevic
After high school, I attended Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee, on an academic and baseball scholarship. My freshman baseball campaign was disturbed with a serious lumbar spine injury. That injury opened up my eyes to the physical therapy profession and was a determining factor in switching my major from pre-dentistry to pre-physical therapy. Through a lot of hard work in physical therapy and strength training, I was able to rehabilitate the injury and return to the field bigger, stronger and faster than ever before. I was selected team captain of the Eagles for two seasons and, as a senior, batted a team and collegiate career-best .358 while earning All-South Atlantic Conference honors. I set the all-time Carson-Newman baseball record by reaching base safely in 43 consecutive games, and was the recipient of the 2015 Carson-Newman University baseball MVP and best hitter awards. On March 24, 2015, I was named the Player of the Week in the Volunteer State by the Tennessee Sportswriters' Association, marking the first time a Carson-Newman baseball player has earned the accolade. I finished 13th in the nation in doubles and was ranked top 10 nationally in doubles per game.
I graduated from Carson-Newman University in 2014 with a degree in exercise science. Due to the injury I obtained as a freshman, I was granted a medical redshirt and was blessed with a fifth year, during which I received a master’s in education with an emphasis in instruction and curriculum in 2015. Directly preceding graduation, I was hired by Indiana University Health as a wellness and rehabilitation clinical coordinator at an outpatient physical therapy clinic in Michigan City, Indiana, where I worked for two years. I have also worked as a baseball instructor and head strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) for the Indiana Chargers travel baseball organization since 2015. I chose to further my academic journey and receive my doctorate in physical therapy from Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in order to help more individuals move, feel and perform at their greatest potential. The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Doctor of Physical Therapy has a new facility, the faculty-to-student ratio is great, and the city of Fort Wayne provides students with a great opportunity to get clinical experience in various settings. I feel like Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ has provided a unique, quality curriculum that has helped prepare me for the workforce.
